Health Talk for Family Wellness Club, Ipoh on Caring for you Joints (May 2026)

A truly meaningful afternoon of movement, learning, and community. I was honoured to be invited by the Family Wellness Club, Ipoh to give a talk on “Caring For Your Joints” — a topic that is becoming increasingly important as more people struggle silently with joint pain, stiffness, and reduced mobility. One of the most special moments for me was conducting a simple exercise demonstration together with my mother, sharing practical and joint-friendly movements that can help improve flexibility, strength, and overall joint health in daily life. I also had the opportunity to do mini consultations for several participants experiencing joint pain — discussing symptoms, answering concerns, and helping them understand when aches and stiffness may require further medical attention. Thank you to everyone who attended, participated so enthusiastically, and shared your stories with us. Conversations like these remind me that healthcare is not only about treatment, but also about education, awareness, and empowering communities to take better care of themselves.

World Family Doctor Day- Hospital GP Symposium (May 2026)

World Family Doctor Day GP Symposium: Ettrix – One Pill, One Day, Simplifying Pain Therapy

I was honoured to be invited as a speaker at the World Family Doctor Day GP Symposium, held in collaboration with Pharmaniaga. During the session, I shared insights on “Ettrix: One Pill, One Day, Simplifying Pain Therapy,” discussing the role of once-daily pain management strategies and the importance of balancing efficacy, safety, and patient adherence in clinical practice. The symposium provided an excellent platform to engage with family physicians, exchange perspectives on the management of pain in primary care, and explore practical approaches to improving patient outcomes. As frontline healthcare providers, family doctors play a crucial role in the early assessment, treatment, and long-term management of patients experiencing acute and chronic pain. Thank you to the organisers, Pharmaniaga, and all the participants for the opportunity to contribute to this meaningful educational event. It was a pleasure to be part of the celebration of World Family Doctor Day and to recognise the invaluable contributions of family physicians to patient care and community health.

Empowering primary care through education and collaboration remains key to delivering better healthcare for our patients.

Staying Healthy on the Road: A Health & Wellness Session for Delivery Riders and E-Hailing Drivers

I recently had the opportunity to conduct a health and wellness session for delivery riders and e-hailing drivers, focusing on practical strategies to stay healthy while spending long hours on the road. Both delivery riders and e-hailing drivers face unique challenges, including irregular meal times, prolonged sitting, limited opportunities for exercise, and the risk of dehydration during busy workdays. During the session, we discussed the importance of adopting healthy eating habits, making smarter food choices when on the go, staying adequately hydrated, and incorporating regular physical activity into daily routines. Participants also learned simple stretches and exercises that can be performed during breaks to help reduce muscle stiffness, improve posture, and prevent common aches and pains associated with long hours of driving or riding. The session encouraged open discussion on the challenges of maintaining a healthy lifestyle while balancing work demands, and highlighted how small, sustainable changes can have a significant impact on long-term health and well-being. Thank you to all the riders and drivers who participated and contributed to the discussion. Taking care of one’s health is just as important as reaching the next destination, and investing in healthy habits today can help ensure a healthier future on and off the road.

Because every journey is safer and more enjoyable when health is a priority.

Hospital CME (April 2026)

I had the privilege of delivering a Continuing Medical Education (CME) session titled “The Great Mimicker: When Rheumatology Hides in Plain Sight” to fellow healthcare professionals. Rheumatic diseases are often referred to as “great mimickers” because they can present with a wide variety of symptoms that resemble infections, malignancies, endocrine disorders, neurological conditions, and other systemic illnesses. This diagnostic challenge requires clinicians to maintain a high index of suspicion and to recognise subtle clinical clues that may point towards an underlying autoimmune or inflammatory disease. During the session, we explored real-world cases that highlighted the importance of thorough clinical assessment, pattern recognition, and multidisciplinary collaboration in achieving an accurate diagnosis. Early recognition and treatment of rheumatic diseases can significantly improve patient outcomes and prevent irreversible organ damage. Medical education remains an important part of my work as a rheumatologist, and I am grateful for the opportunity to share knowledge, discuss challenging cases, and learn alongside colleagues who are equally committed to delivering the best possible care for our patients.

Health Talk at Green Acres (February 2026)

I had the privilege of speaking to the wonderful residents of Green Acres Retirement Village on joint health, bone strength, and ageing with confidence. There is something deeply humbling about standing in a room filled with decades of wisdom, resilience, and life experience. As a rheumatologist, I talk often about arthritis and osteoporosis – but what we really discussed was independence, dignity, and the power of staying active. Healthy joints mean being able to travel, attend family celebrations, pray comfortably, garden, cook, and continue living life on your own terms. Thank you to the team at Green Acres for the warm hospitality, and to all the residents who participated so enthusiastically. Here’s to ageing with strength, grace, and confidence.
